Music At The Intersection 2022

Music and Culture Impact
Urban Development

We chose a brighter color palette this year, with neon hues for an electrifying effect, and incorporated a larger than life “X” as the symbol of Grand Center – the intersection of culture, art, and life.

MUSIC AT THE INTERSECTION is a civic-led effort presented by Kranzberg Arts Foundation in partnership with Steward Family Foundation and The Regional Arts Commission (RAC) of St. Louis. The festival's mission is to tell the story of our city’s rich musical, cultural and artistic heritage. For two days, MATI puts a spotlight on the Grand Center Arts District in St. Louis, inviting attendees from all over to experience the area through music, art, and vendors, while supporting urban development.

Now in its second year, Music at the Intersection will welcome more than fifty artists to St. Louis for what is sure to be the city’s largest weekend of live music and art in 2022. Headliners Gary Clark Jr., Erykah Badu, Buddy Guy, BJ the Chicago Kid, and John Scofield will perform on four stages across the Grand Center Arts District on Sept. 10 and 11. Several vendors, food trucks and immersive art activations will also be offered throughout the festival grounds.

CARTEL was honored to bring a refreshed look and feel to MATI this year. Like the poster, we went with a bold tapestry of color with graphic references to the city’s musical heritage, and included a reference to Grand Center with the addition of The Big Top tent. We chose a brighter color palette this year, with neon hues for an electrifying effect, and incorporated a larger than life “X” as the symbol of Grand Center – the intersection of culture, art, and life. As a result, we introduced a graphic device to be used in signage and environmental graphics that went beyond a focal point for key information.

The refreshed branding for the 2022 festival surfaced in print with a new lineup poster, marketing collateral, a billboard along highway 64, and environmental graphics at Sophie’s Artist Lounge and other Grand Center venues.

We also brought the new look and feel to the MATI website, then created engaging motion graphics for web, social media, and the video walls within festival venues, driving brand consistency across print and web platforms.

We expect a contagious energy to be abuzz throughout the Grand Center Arts District this September. We hope you will meet us at The Intersection, where the city, in all of its colors, will come to life. For tickets and more information, visit musicattheintersection.org.
