Rethinking Covid-19 Vaccine Card for TIME Magazine

By utilizing a single side for the vaccination cards' uses and lifecycle, our design allows for a whole canvas dedicated towards thoughtful illustrative messaging.

TIME Magazine approached several graphic artists to come up with alternative ideas that would respond to the 21st century scourge that is COVID-19 with a 21st century vaccination card.

All of the designers believed the card should be smaller, and two of the four designed them from plastic. Not only does that make the card less destructible and easier to carry, it also serves a certain psychological function, giving it the feel of just one more card in the stack we already carry.

CARTEL's redesign of the vaccination card balances both form and function. By utilizing a single side for the vaccination cards' uses and lifecycle, our design allows for a whole canvas dedicated towards thoughtful illustrative messaging. This creates a personal connection to ones vaccination card rather than an object that easily seen as disposable.
